LiteZone's® performance allows a new paradigm in how buildings are designed, constructed and used.

In the construction of both new homes and new commercial buildings, LiteZone® will allow the use of large windows and expansive glass walls for panoramic views and abundant natural light, without high energy costs or risk of condensation problems, while creating highly desirable, quiet and comfortable living and working spaces.

Office buildings using LiteZone® with sufficiently high R-values in many cases can have thermal losses so small that during occupied hours no heating system is required other than to warm outside air for ventilation. In particular, because LiteZone® glass will always be near room temperature, no under window perimeter heating system is normally required. The size and cost of the cooling system can also be reduced. The savings in the mechanical system costs can more than offset the cost to upgrade the window system and the long term energy savings become an additional benefit.

Buildings that are designed to optimize LiteZone® performance values will be cost efficient to construct, have lower ongoing costs to heat and cool and have lower maintenance costs because of smaller and less complex heating and cooling systems.
Without under window perimeter heating system, there will be more useable floor space. These buildings will also be more comfortable without drafts and without radiant exchanges between inefficient windows and people. And they will remain quiet inside regardless of the level of outside noise.

Highly energy efficient buildings being constructed with thick walls to achieve wall insulating values in the R40 to R60 range can be designed with abundant glass areas using LiteZone®, without compromising energy efficiency goals. It makes sense to take advantage of the additional wall thickness to accommodate thicker LiteZone® IGUs with centre of glass R-values up to ~R20 to complement the wall's insulating value.

Buildings using renewable sources of energy, such as geothermal or solar, will have far lower energy requirements with LiteZone® and therefore much smaller and less costly heating and cooling systems. This makes the use of renewables more feasible and much more affordable.

The 60 year life of the LiteZone® insulating glass will make it possible for the entire building wall system to be truly sustainable.
